Beneath wide clouds, the iron dream takes shape, In dust and sun, the city holds its breath. Old beams and stones lie scattered near the drape Of towering ribs that challenge time and death. A lone car waits where hammers start to sing, While tiny footsteps cross the tawny ground. The steel-lit arch becomes a soaring wing, And blue horizons turn to lifting sound.
